I loved this TED Talk by Ashley Graham, she's a plus size model and body activist.

It's an interesting conversation about the label 'plus size' cause it's actually a label that is amazing considering the average women in Australia is at least is size 14 and plus size starts at 8 - can you believe it! So I do agree that it's kinda around the wrong way, it's should be 'Minus' size and then normal - but then again - it doesn't need to be labelled.

I spoke to my sister who is in the fashion industry and has managed plus sizes for some major Australian brands over the years and the reason she said is two-fold:

1. It's more fabric, so more expensive and 2. Some labels don't want their clothes on women over size 14 because it diminishes the cut or actually, the brand.

Interesting. I plan to make my own Glam Rabbits label soon and I'm certainly not going to stop at a certain size, and if it's more expensive then that cost will be aborbed into the whole of the collections. I want to promote self-love and acceptance, so that's how I personally see it.

However, just because I don't agree doesn't mean I don't see their point of view, I know that apsirational skinny models will always sell more magazines and more clothes - for now. Marketing will naturally change when we change and we start to accept ourselves then it will shift itself.

Remember importantly, the original idea of having clothes fashioned on a boy like figure allowed us to see the CLOTHES, NOT the woman, so we can put our own personality and brand on our purchase - when did we start putting the WOMAN'S look and feel before our own?

In any case, enjoy the video, I think she is amazing and sooo beautiful and sexy.
