Paris anyone?
Last night I watched 'Something's Gotta Give' with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicolson, do yourself a favour and watch it if you haven't, I've seen it a couple of times - Paris features a little bit but I won't give it away! Yes I love a good movie, it's like a good song, I appreciate it the more I see it sometimes. I enjoy and savour the amazing performances, direction and the moments that make me laugh and cry. Again I got sucked into Gran Torino, by my fav director Clint Eastwood, I felt emotionally exhausted (again) but so in admiration of his storytelling and direction - what a great piece of work...
Now, back to Paris!
We often think about Paris as our love destination, it has romance, history, glamour, magic and of course shopping! I was also reading about the french women, they are so different, they have an ability to be romantic without sentimentality, sexy without being trashy - yes they truly have a style of their own. This last week I was filming a video for an Australian fashion brand, the idea included interviewing 'real' women over 50. I interviewed these women about what it meant to be 'older' - the good and the bad and I was so surprised by their responses.

The wonderful thing about getting older, is that your experience and your wisdom from your life exudes into everything. Listening to these women of all backgrounds I was inspired and moved. Most had battled some trauma and challenges but still carried with them a light and love that was beyond their experiences. Interestingly enough from a fashion point of view, they all still want to look attractive but most felt comfortable in their skin to not be as concerned as when they were younger. All of them also felt that they knew more what they liked and didn't like and happy to wear what suited them instead of following trends.
So back to my French theme, I loved the idea of taking the sentimentality out of what may be seen as a challenge (as the french do) allow the emotion to be there - but not add any other concepts. It's like these women I interviewed, they didn't let things be more than what they were. Let it flow and then let it go.
This week try and be French, when you are feeling upset or 'challenged', step back from your problems and say yes 'I'm feeling bad' (or whatever your feeling) 'but it's not a badlife', it's just what I'm feeling ;)
Love and Sparkle, Scarlett xo
